Battery Powered Remote Valve Actuation

3S Remote Valve Actuator - Key Features:

Two-way remote valve actuator utilizing existing valves without the need for chambers, switching cabinets, PLC's, or on-site power

Communications via LTE-Cat M1 (LTE-M) or Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) SIM card available from all major Canadian telecommunication companies

Easy SCADA integration

Connects to existing valves with no service interruption

Powered with a Longlife Rechargeable Battery  - No need for power/telemetry on-site (can be connected to power if needed)

Ability to adjust closing/opening speeds throughout valve operation

Calm Network operation - speed of closure can be adjusted to each valves requirement individually to prevent transients

Completely waterproof - Can be direct buried or installed inside existing manhole/valve box

Full Range of actuators all the way up to 1450 Nm (1070 ft-lbs) of torque delivering 2000 Watt power for large gate valve operation

Fraction of the cost of running power/telemetry to site for remote valve automation

Applications:

Critical burst mitigation

Remote battery-powered actuators can be deployed to provide automatic shut off based on sensor data or by instruction from a centralized control centre to reduce water loss

Active DMA's

Actuators can be programmed to rezone DMA's or to provide day/night DMA pressures (in conjunction with needle valves) at a specific time each day

Critical asset operation

When response time is a key concern automating valves means control is available within minutes rather than waiting for operatives to travel to the asset

Automated rezoning

Actuators can be placed in optimum positions to enable automated rezoning in the result of loss of an asset (reservoir or pumping station)  or a burst

Remote sites with no power or 230V power

Many reservoirs and remote sites have no power or perhaps 230V power but no 400V power making traditional actuation very costly. 3S actuators can run from a rechargeable battery which can also trickle charge from a 230V supply making actuation easy

Hard to access valves

If a valve is in an easement or a location that is difficult to access a remote battery-powered actuator can be installed enabling remote operation of the asset
